2年間に及ぶ旅行で描いた絵と綴った文章で埋められたすばらしい一冊。

特に出会った人の似顔絵が、凄すぎる。その量と質において。

彼、下田昌克は芸術家だ。自分に合った表現の仕方で何かを表現する才能と機会に恵まれている。いや、才能も機会も、自分で見つけて行ったと言ったほうが正しい。この本はその過程を読者と辿ることができるツールだ。他のどの旅行記にもないもの、一人の男の鋭すぎる感性が、そのままこの本の価値となっている。
文章力は、あまり無い。しかし素朴でストレートな言葉も、彼の絵と相俟って、とんでもない力を発揮する。感動がじわっと伝わる。旅に出たくなる。

下田昌克に旅をさせてくれた世界に祝福を。新たな芸術家の誕生に喝采を。

色鉛筆や絵の具で旅の期間に会った人たちの似顔絵を書いた日記。
率直な感想や心情が吐露されているのが面白い。
色鉛筆でぐちゃぐちゃと色がまぜこぜになっているのに
その人の特徴をよくつかんでいてへたくそなのか上手なのか
一瞬とまどってしまうけれどもやっぱり上手！
スケッチブックと色鉛筆をもって旅行にいくスタイルを私も
やってみようかな？と思ったとても旅好き＆絵好きにはいい一冊
だと思う。

　ＴＢＳの「情熱大陸」に筆者が出演されているのにインスパイアされて早速読んでみました。

　長い旅行の間に一貫してしているのは「興味津々、面白がる精神」です。それが軽妙なイラストと味わいのあるタッチによる文章でこちらもどんどん引き込まれていきました。

　もう少し私が若かったら、こんな旅を絶対にしてみたい、そういう気になりました。
