「田んぼ」という環境を軸にまとめた網羅的な図鑑としての価値は極めて高いと思う。
多種多様な生き物たちが、季節に応じてこれだけ生息していることに改めて驚かされる。
単なる生き物カタログではなく、日本固有種の減少や日本の原風景でありながら意外と知られていない田んぼの現況など、現代日本が抱えている様々な問題点が、生き物を通して伝わってくる本である。
学校用の教材としても是非とも活用すべきであろう。

写真家内山りゅう氏の作品はオオサンショウウオのものを見て知っていましたが、テレビ番組「情熱大陸」での同氏の姿を見てそこで登場してきた田んぼの光景を見たくて本書を購入しました。
届いて見てまず驚いたのはその素晴らしい内容です。
しかもこの価格！！
たいした内容もないのに値段だけは高いものがあふれていますが、本書はちょっと違います。
よくこの価格で売ってるな~。
必ずあなたも満足するでしょ~。
写真はもちろんですが、構成もすごくスッキリ＆キッチリしています。
図鑑にありがちなちょいと幼稚？！な構成ではありません。
見やすい！　そして文章もわかりやすい！
なつかしい日の田んぼに行きたくなりました。
本書は枕元に置いて眠りたい大切な一冊です。

　写真がとても鮮やかで，田んぼに生息・生育する生物の美しさを伝えてくれる本である。生物だけではなく，1年を通じた田んぼと人の関わりの変化も見せてくれる。動物と植物を一冊にまとめているのは，田んぼにおける生き物のつながりを意識した上での編集だろうか。生物が盛り沢山で，写真を楽しみながら読むことができる。
　本書の中では，貝類や植物等について，田んぼにも外来種が多く侵入してきていることが指摘されている。もちろん外来種も美しい写真で紹介されているが，この点は，在来種と外来種を分けて載せた方が分かりやすかったように思う。
　写真の美しさは目を見張るものがある。説明文も，適度にまとまっていて読みやすい。小学生から高校生ぐらいの生物の教材としてもいいだろう。
