ボーライン結び（もやい結び）を基本として、様々な目的に合ったロープの結び方が解説されていますが、それだけでなく、ロープそのものについての基礎知識、管理方法なども説明してあります。ローブワークには創造性が必要で頭の体操になりますし（もちろん手先の運動にもなります）、ハイテクに頼らない余裕のようなものも生まれます。設備の行き届いたキャンプ場での”アウトドア”もいいですが、その外に踏み出す手始めにロープワークを研究するのも悪くないと思います。

　ロープ・ワークの本はいろいろ出版されているけれど、どれも内容に関しては大差ないだろう。見やすさと値段で選べばいい。
　登山やキャンプではもちろん、最近はいろいろな災害が多発していて、いつ自身が見舞われるかわからないから冒頭の「ボー・ライン」(もやい結び)だけはしっかり練習して目をつむっても結べるようにしておいて損はない。イザというとき絶対役に立つ。
