医学については門外漢ですが、著者の長年の臨床的営為から得られた貴重な知見（知恵と云ってもよいでしょう）が詰まった珠玉のような書物です。「「虹は七色」なんかじゃない！」（１８頁）、「重症度の高いもの、後遺症の残りやすいもの、まちがうと取り返しがつかない確率の高いものから先に考えるのが臨床的思考である」（１５８頁）、等々。（後者は、今日正にビジネスの世界にも妥当する至言だと思います。）「まえがき」に記された著者の職業倫理観（苦労してでもすべき修行時代の幅広い基礎知識・技術習得や専門領域外への飽くなき挑戦の重要性）も一読に値するでしょう。今後も再読三読したい一書です。

全編示唆に富んでおり、
何よりも、ウイルス研究〜精神科医〜漢方研究〜ギリシャ詩翻訳
と辿った、中井氏でないと書けない内容のオンパレード。
希有な書物です。
息子（外科医）にも是非読ませたいので、２冊購入しました。

　《しがらみのなくなった老医》として院内感染に対する患者の自己防衛策、昏睡状態の患者のサルヴェージ方法（これは本当に可能みたいでスゴイ）、丸山ワクチンの入手方法とワクチンに対する肯定的な評価などを書くという素晴らしい企画。

　もし入院するようなハメになったら、「院内感染に対する患者自衛策試案」にそって鼻うがいをしてメンソレータムを塗り、睡眠薬を出してもらい、プロポリスと乳酸菌飲料を飲むことにします。人体で乳酸菌しかいない清浄度Ｉの場所は、乳幼児の胃と膣だそうで、産道通過時にデーダーライン桿菌が口に入るらしい。《だから乳酸菌飲料は少量を局所に入れれば膣は清浄になる。これを会社が宣伝しないのは企業イメージをおもんばかってのことらしい（とは一社員の言である）》(p.51)なんていうところもあるらしい。ちなみに中井先生はしっかりした研究所を持っているヤクルトを愛飲しているとのこと。

　丸山ワクチンは中井先生も前立腺癌の摘出手術以降は《このワクチンだけで生存している》(p.117)ということなので、もしそうなったら日本医大付属病院に行こうと思います。40日分で9450円だし。丸山先生の「繊維芽細胞が動員されてガン細胞の塊を囲い込み、やがて繊維化して、ガン細胞が兵糧攻めにあうのではないか」(p.104)という説明も納得的。
