とにかくこの人の本はその全てを読まなければならない。ハズレというものが全く無く、どれを読んでも深い知的満足を味わわせてくれる。
まず文章のテンポが良い。ズバっと本質に切り込んでくる。ユーモアのセンスも半端じゃない。読書における「笑い」と知的快感の関係性について考えさせられる。

いきなり「前書き」で、あの、あの佐藤信夫の仕事(棋界ではバイブルのように読まれている)を、「偽善的レトリック観」の名の下に一刀両断！なんたる偶像破壊！！
タフで遊び心に溢れた知性が生み出した、強烈に面白い一冊。
