修道院の寄宿学校で美しく成長したホープ。ホープの父へ復讐心を燃やすアレクセイはホープの政略結婚を妨害する為に彼女の処女を奪う。
しかし家族の愛を知らないホープと愛する妹を失って孤独なアレクセイは惹かれあっていく。出生の秘密と父親との決別によりアレクセイしか拠り所が無くなったホープだが、愛の無い同情だけの生活に耐えられず彼の元を去る。だがホープは彼との愛の結晶を宿していた．．．
展開としてはややありきたりかなぁとは思うけど、同じような本の中では良い出来ですね。アレクセイが“大人の男”の割りにホープのこととなると鈍くなるのが割りと好きです。でも再会した後、エッチするより気持ちを打ち明けあえよ！！って何度も思うのは私だけじゃないはず。

ペニー･ジョーダンの作品は好きなので、こちらも期待して読んでみま
したが･･･ストーリー展開が読めてしまって･･･。
1984年の作品なので仕方が無いのかもしれませんね。
愛し合っているのに気付かず、お互いに勘違いの思い込みをして
しまって、すれ違いばかり。
最後の方では、いい加減に思いを伝えて！とじれったい思いをしました。
もう少し話を短くまとめても良かったのでは？と言う感じもします。
次に期待したいと思います。

　３０代のいい大人のはずの男が、復讐のため憎き男の１８歳の娘を修道院からさらって手篭めにする。そんな始まりにも拘らず愛し合うようになる二人なのだが、娘はお腹に子供を宿したまま逃げ出して……。

　とにかく続きが知りたくて、最後まで一気に読んでしまいました。だからと言って劇的な展開があったわけではなく、舞台は変われどやっていることは同じ。途中からサブカップルが加わってきて期待させますが、これも空振りに。読み終えて無力感に襲われました。

　あとがきによると、作者は小説の書き方の伝授にも熱心なようですが、その筆力に感心しないわけにはいきません。何か起こりそうな予感がしたところで、次週に続く…。そんなソープオペラのような作品です。
