美しい絵とストーリーです。ちょっと物悲しい雰囲気で流れてゆくストーリーで、子供は子供なりに、大人は大人なりに楽しめます。
元々両親が買って家にあった本ですが、息子にも買い与え親子３代で読んでいます。
自然破壊への警鐘ともとれますし、自分とは何か自分の生き方とは何か悩んだときにもお進めできる様々な解釈ができる傑作だと思います。

美しい絵によって成り立っていて、それだけで審美的価値は十分にあるのでしょう。しかしながら、この絵本の本質はその痛烈なメッセージにあるように思われます。何の罪もない、かわいい野生の熊がいつの間にかその住処である山を奪われ、しかも人間社会に放り込まれ、四苦八苦してしまいます。ともすれば、重苦しくなりがちな自然保護のメッセージがやわらかく、優しさあふれる絵と文によって織り上げられています。読み手の立場・年齢を問わない名著です。

自分が自分でないと他人に言われ続けたら
こんなくまになってしまうかも・・・

くまのむなしさが、こちらに伝わってきて、哀しくなりました。

本を読めるようになったら、子供にも読んで欲しい本です。
もちろん大人の私たちにも、しみじみと考えさせられる内容です。
