世間のトレンドからちょっと(いやかなり)離れた主人公たち。 なにせ女子高生の趣味が海釣りだったり、世界的アーティストの 大好物が味噌汁だったり、やたら大食いのパイロットがいたり… だけど、健気でひたむきな彼らが食べるものはやたらと おいしそうなんだよね。もぎゅもぎゅ、という擬音がまたGood. おいしくて、ちょっとほろりとして、おもしろい。 ぜひ、読んでください。

川原泉さんの初期の短編集です。
表題作は、パイロットの幼馴染と勢いで結婚することになったイラストレーターが主人公のお話です。
「食欲魔人」というのは、この彼の食欲がもう常軌を逸していることからついたのでしょう（笑）。
パイロットとイラストレーター…しかし、職業上の華やかさはあまり前面に押し出されていません。

むしろ、それぞれの「素」のコミカルさが中心になっています。
恋愛モノですが、恋愛特有の甘い雰囲気は一切なく、むしろさばさばとした感じで進んでいきます。
とてもほのぼのとした展開です。
「好き」とか「愛している」なんていう台詞は一切出ませんが、主人公の行動やストーリーの雰囲気で、微妙な心情の変化は鮮やかに描写されています。

直接的な恋愛要素がないだけに、より一層、ほのぼのとした淡い恋愛模様を楽しむことができるのだろうなぁと感じました。

主人公の女性がとにかく魅力的。
シニカルでタフで、でも可愛いですよ。

「空の食欲魔人」幼なじみのみすずと弘文。２７歳になっても結婚する意欲のないみすずに、ある日何気ない会話の中でさらりとプロポーズした弘文。弘文は、パイロットでその上二枚目。しかし、異常なほどの大食らい。何をおいても食欲第一!!の男なのである。プロポーズの言葉も“ある日ふとまわりを見わたしたら、おまえしかいなかったのなー”何かなっとくいかないみすずですが･･･
「カレーの王子さま」みすずと弘文の新婚生活。やはり、弘文の異常ほどの食欲が原因で揉め事が絶えない二人の生活のようす。
「アップル・ジャック」甘いもの好き自衛官の式部さんとハーフでモデルのエリカさんのお話。

「不思議なマリナー」釣り好き娘と釣りも料理もうまいにーさんカップルのお話。
「ミソ・スーメ?は哲学する」博士号をもつミュージシャンのシドニーと短大生の郁とをつなぐ味噌汁の縁。
「アンドロイドはミスティー・ブルーの夢を見るか?」今連載中のブレーメンIIのお話の原点。イレブン・ナインとスカイ・アイ社長の出会いの話。

「Ｇ･Ｈ･Ｑに言うからねっ！」年の差カップルのお話。
「３月革命」個人的にはこの中で一番好きな話。血の繋がらない姉弟のお話。「月夜のドレス」体にカーテン巻いて夜な夜な公園で踊る江藤くんと複雑な人間関係に悩む秋好さんたちの話。
　
教授ならではの間合いが最高です!!あったかいラブストーリー満載ですよ。
