ストーリィは、もちろんいつもの川原節で、強引に力技な設定からはじまる。しかしながらたのしい世界に乗せられてしまって最後のページにたどり着いたとき、彼女の力技でない感情の伝え方を知るのである。川原泉は、いつもこうやってわたしたちに感情のゆらぎを、はずかしがりながら教えてくれる。

　川原泉の作品の中でも、飛び抜けた傑作と謳われることの多いこの作品「銀のロマンティック…わはは」であるが、そのタイトルにエッセンスの全てがあるのではないかと思う。一瞥するにふざけたタイトル、「…わはは」の部分に、作者の表現の幅の広さが重畳されているのは間違いない。

　ストーリーこそ平凡とも言える流れ――いわゆるよくあるお話。あるカップルの偶然の出会い、天才への気付きとそれへの落胆／克服といったモチーフ――であるものの、読後感覚と言えば、全てのコマ・セリフ・画に伏線が張られているように感じられる。

　無駄に感じる部分が最後には無駄にならない、このストイックなまでのミニマルさは、ほかの作家には（彼女はそれこそ少女漫画家なのだ！）なかなかない部分である。

　読めばまず、強烈な印象が残る。それこそストーリーを思い返し、反芻すれば涙すら出る。わたしたちをそうさせるのは、作品にある“日常感”ではないだろうか。登場人物たちはフィクショナルな非日常を決して生きているわけでなく、わたしたちの日常に普通に生きている感覚がするのだ。この点がほかの川原作品と大きく違う点であると思う。

　とにかく、大傑作であるが問題作でない。ここに最大の強度がある。もしまだ触れたことのない方がいれば、読んでどのように感じるか聞いてみたい。自分の感じ方がほかの読者とどう違うのか、それも気になるところだ。

内容については他の方の書いている通りまぎれもない傑作。
今読むのであれば白泉社文庫「甲子園の空に笑え！」にも収録されているので
そちらを購入されたほうが入手しやすいでしょう。
