シャンサ
北京生まれ。10歳で処女詩集を出版、12歳で全中国詩大会グランプリ受賞。天安門事件後の1990年、17歳で渡仏し、画家バルテュスに2年間師事し親交を結ぶ。97年「PORTE DE LA PAIX C´ELESTE」で仏ゴンクール賞最優秀新人賞、99年「LES QUATRE VIES DU SAULE」でカゼス=リップ賞、2001年の『碁を打つ女』(早川書房刊)で「高校生が選ぶゴンクール賞」を始め、各国の文学賞を受賞。同書は世界28カ国で出版され、ミリオンセラーとなった。書や絵などアーティストとしても高く評価され、パリ、NYで数々の個展を開催。書画集には『LE MIROIR DU CALLIGRAPHE』がある。パリ在住

5.0 out of 5 stars 名著「背教者ユリアヌス」を思い起こす出来, 2008/1/29
暴君を父王にもつ少年が苦しみながら成長し
父王を超え王となっていく前半のストーリーに
神話や謎めいた部族などが物語に織りをなし、
どんどん引き込まれます。
読後は静かで深い感動が残りました。

名著「背教者ユリアヌス」を思い出しました。
あの名著に、愛の面が加わったとでも申しましょうか。
読み応えも面白さも充分で、一気に読みました。

残酷さと美しさが整った縄目のように絡み、大陸を舞台とした
歴史物語が淡々と語られていきます。
登場人物たちが理想化、美化され、劇画やＢＬのような
キャラクター付けがなされています。
アレクサンドロスはその時代性、成した功績、若さといったことから、
人々を跪かせるほどの美貌とするのも理解できますが、
運命の相手アレストリアに関しては、シベリアでアマゾネス、アジア人の風貌と、
やや作為的すぎる。彼女は鳥の言葉を話す部族の女王です。
アレクサンドロスは子供時代少女のようであり、
アレストリアは戦士。出あった時は少年と間違われる。

ジェンダーを越える設定は日本の少女マンガに多い。
萩尾望都さんの「マージナル」のような世界、つまり
現実社会とは異なる設定の、別の魅惑的な世界にどっぷりはまって
ロマンチックな気持ちに浸りたい方にお勧めします。

マケドニア王アレクサンドロスを主人公にした壮大な物語。
物語云々よりもシャンサならではの美しい一人称の文章にうっとりする。
生々しい描写もあるのだが、全体は神話とかファンタジーとかいった紗がかかった感じ。
彼女の手にかかると、ごく平凡な風景も美しい極彩色の錦に変わる。
中国人である著者はフランス語で小説を書くという。だからこその美しさなのか、訳者も秀逸なのだろう。
少し心が疲れたときに、太陽が長い長い時間をかけて沈むのを眺めているような気分にさせてくれます。
小説としては評価ちょっと甘いかな？
