私の娘が大好きな本のひとつです。元々「レインボーマジック」のシリーズを読み、妖精がテーマの本を探していたところ、あんびる氏の本を見つけ、手に取るや一気に読破してしまいました。
主人公は勇気も優しさも知恵もある女の子ジャレット。他の登場人物(&猫)も魅力的。
ハーブの名前や効能もわかりやすく、この本を読んだ娘は早速エッセンシャルオイルを集めて匂いをかいだり、コットンに染み込ませて持ち物に香りをつけたりしました。
挿し絵も可愛らしく、何度も繰り返し読みたくなる本です。
もちろんその後は、あんびる氏の著書を片っ端から読み始めた娘でした。(^_^)

８才の娘が大好きなあんびるやすこさんの本。一緒に読んでいると大人ですら引き込まれる素敵なお話ばかりです。
特にこの本は「魔法の庭ものがたり」の第一作目とあって、このシリーズをこれから読まれる方は必見です。

ハーブ魔女・トパーズの遺産をめぐり１００人の魔女がクリア出来なかったこの相続の条件「この家に気に入られること」をこの小さな女の子が継ぐことができるでしょうか？　物語は魔法を使うことができない普通の人間の少女、ジャレットの奮闘記と、また、彼女を見つめる謎の遺産の管理人ミス・ガーディ。そしてかわいらしいネコ達と共に繰り広げられていきます。花咲き乱れる魔法の庭のハーブ園の様子や挿絵もとても愛らしい！
そして、最後は？…　何度読んでも涙が出てしまう、心の暖かくなる素敵なお話です。

主人公が一人暮らしを始め、なんでも自分でやるところは大人としては設定に無理があるように感じますが、子供からすると自分もなんでも一人でできるようなワクワク感があるようです。
子猫たちの名前をいろんなハーブからとってつけるので、子供がハーブに親しみを持つようになり、先日アロマのお店に行った時も、ハーブの効用について語っていたのがおかしかったです。
魔女商会とおなじようにこの本もシリーズ化されると思いますので次にどんなことが起こるのか楽しみです。
