宮田珠己の旅行記はいつもすごく面白い。余計な力が抜けていて、変なモノを求めて、妙なことに感心している。
今回は、「ホンノンボ」という盆栽を求めてベトナムへ。日本でほとんど無名の「ホンノンボ」に関する本は無いに等しいらしい。だからこの本は、オンリーワンな超一級資料かもしれない。
宮田氏が惹かれるモノは「凹凸した地形」。ホンノンボはこの琴線に触れるらしい。水の上に岩で山を作り、木を植え、人や建物や動物のミニチュアを置くとホンノンボになる。好きなモノを追いかけている人は楽しそうだ。ミニチュアがかわいい。
なんの当てもなく、現地でいろいろ模索し、たくさんの人に出会う。ホンノンボ探しにつきあわされたタクシー運転手のトゥアン君は、すっかりハマッてしまったようだ。最初は興味なかったのに。「彼の人生を変えてしまったかも」と宮田氏は心配している。
ベトナムのニンビン、タムコック、バチャン。もの凄く行きたい。大量に売られているミニチュアを見て回りたい。

　宮田珠己さんに紹介いただけるのは、
　今回は、ホンノンボ！
　・・ウェブマガジンの連載をまとめた本になります。

　「ホンノンボ」って何？

　ホンノンボとは、

　・・・ベトナムの盆栽
　・・・道教的宇宙観を表わしたもの

　ホンノンボの写真がいくつも紹介されているのですが、
　とっても不思議な世界・・世界観です。

　そこから、日本の盆栽と、ベトナムのホンノンボの比較文化論？！
　にまで展開されるのはご愛嬌。

　ときおり爆笑し、幸せな気持ちになりました。

テレビの世界不思議発見でベトナムのことを放送していたときに見たホンノンボ。チラッと写っただけなんだけど、ぼくはもう虜になってしまいました。
ネットで調べてみてもいまいちよく分からない。見つかったのはこの本だけだった。ホンノンボについての作者による調査結果を読む。
とても楽しそうだ！

今は、ごつごつした石を手に入れようと思って色々頑張っています。
