5.0 out of 5 stars 「気づき」を与えてくれる「道場」たるに相応しい本！, 2005/5/6
岡崎武志さんが出す御題目に則り、角田光代さんが実際に様々な土地の古本屋を巡り、
古本を購入しつつ、古本道を究めるというのがこの本の表のテーマです。
しかし実は「古本屋」が土地柄や記憶といった、大切なものを我々に伝える媒介者でもあるのだ
ということに気づかせてくれる、そんな裏のテーマもしっかりと流れています。
また、古本道を究めていく中での、角田さんの「本」へのまなざしを通して、
「縦横無尽に広がる知識の糸」を純粋に「知識の糸」として求め味わう「贅沢さ」にも気づかせてくれる、
まさに「道場」たるに相応しい本であると思います。

ポプラビーチに連載時は楽しく読んでいたのですが、単行本化にあたって古本屋における角田光代の写真がほとんど削られてしまったのは残念です。終章のみ書き下ろしですが。

古本ってすごく興味あるし、読みたい本で絶版の物も多いのですが、古本屋に足をふみいれるということになると、話は別。何か怖いんですよね。つまさきから、頭のてっぺんまで値踏みされているような感覚がする。高級店に入るときのような。でも、この本を読むと、いてもたってもいられなくなる！今すぐいきたくなります。角田さんがどんな本をよむのかなど、情報満載です。
