はじめてギネスブックの本を手にしました。
小3の息子が「世界で一番！」にやたらと興味を持ちはじめたからです。
トランプをどんどん積み上げてどれ位になったか（写真あり）、
年末年始番組でフラフープで世界記録を作ったモー娘。のことも
もちろん載っていました。

後のインデックスで知りたい「世界記録」が引き易いですし
写真も少しあるので楽しめます。

一番の「へぇ~」
聖書とコーランを除いて一番売れたのはこの「ギネス世界記録」の本。
（しっかりギネス記録として載っていました）
1955年に「ギネス世界記録 」（以前は名まえが少し違っていた）が出版されて以来、37ヵ国語に翻訳され、100ヵ国以上の国々で１億部以上売れたらしい。

子供から大人まで読みやすいように徹した構成のため、
難しい専門書ではなく全体的に小学館の図鑑シリーズのような印象です。
ギネスブックと言うとスポーツや身長・体重と言った分野での人間の
最高記録集を想像していましたが、自然や動物、天体や歴史など
様々なジャンルの「最高」が纏められていて、勉強にもなりました。
個人的には「世界最大規模のイス取りゲームの人数は？」とか
「もっとも高価な宝石は？」とかトリビア的な記録がどっさり載っていたことが
楽しかったです。
探究心や好奇心の強いかたにお勧めします。
