島本理生さんの小説「リトル・バイ・リトル」で取り上げられていたのがきっかけで読んでみました。

表題作は核戦争に巻き込まれた普通の家庭に育った少年の姿が、
淡々と、しかしとても鮮烈に描かれています。
他の作品も同様子ども時代をテーマにした、
短いですがずっしりとした、苦いけれど、とても美しいお話ばかりでした。

決してワクワクするような楽しい物語ではありませんが、
これから大人になろうとする子どもも、
もう大人になった「かつての子ども」にも、心に染みる物語だと思います。

ズッコケ三人組でお馴染みの那須先生の傑作です。
児童文学の大家ですが、その作品は大人が呼んでも
面白いことで有名です。この作品も実にすばらしい。
どれも良いんですが、『約束』なんかは、乙一さんが
好きな人にはたまりません。

恩田陸さん作品「Ｑ＆Ａ」の作品中に登場し、興味を覚えて読んでみた。はじめは中東で起こった戦争だった・・それから戦火は日本にやってくる。男の子は無線機に向かって応答を求めた。返事は無い。つい先日まで色んな声が聞こえていたのに・・もう誰も返事をしないのだ。それでも応答を求めると、１人の女の子が助けを求める応答があった。僅かな命を振り絞って男の子は女の子を助けに行くのだ。その他３作品が掲載されている。最後のガラスのライオンがなかなか良かったな。
