5.0 out of 5 stars 「まだまだオキナワ」を考えるために, 2003/11/20
　９０年代中頃の近接した時期に又吉栄喜、目取真俊が芥川賞を受賞した。そのときに「また沖縄か」とある評者に揶揄されたことがある。しかし、「戦争」が日常化した現在を考えると、「また沖縄か」どころか、「まだまだオキナワ」である。

　本書は文学作品を通して「まだまだオキナワ」を考えるためのアンソロジー。しかもいまや簡単には読むことのできない、さまざまな時代の重要な作品が多数、全文収録され、さらに詳細な解説がついている。また文献案内、略年表が付されていて、オキナワ、そして「日本」を考えるための素晴らしいアンソロジーとなっている。

　個人的には崎山多美という作家を本書で「発見」したことが大きな「喜び」をもたらしてくれた。本書に収められていない崎山多美の作品、例えば『ゆらていくゆりていく』を貪るように読むことになったのである。

　まだまだこのアンソロジーから多くの「発見」ができるだろう。そして、こうした「発見」は、「私」をはげしく揺さぶり、「私」を再考させ、「私」の現在に対する見方に変更をせまる。またオキナワが一様なものではなく、じつにさまざまな表情を持っていることにも気づかせてくれる。

　むろんこれは当然のことであろう。オキナワは「戦争のオキナワ」だけではないし、「基地のオキナワ」だけでもないし、まして「南国の楽園」だけでもあり得ない。一人一人の「私」が内部に多様な「私」を抱えているように。

　しかし、そのことに気づくことは少ない。だからこそ、こうしたことを改めて気づかせてくれる読書体験は貴重である。そして本書は多くの人々にそうした貴重な読書体験をもたらすにちがいない。

　沖縄文学の、はじめての本格的なアンソロジー。そこには「日本語」の「日本文学」には収まりきれない、言葉の葛藤がある。その違和感は本土「日本文学」に対して何に起因するものなのか、それが本書を企画したねらいにちがいない。「琉球文学」と「沖縄文学」との位相差ということにもなる。沖縄の伝統的な言葉＝沖縄語では「近代」に関わる概念を表出することは不可能であった。近代化の遅れとして言語以外の問題はあっても、文学に関する本書の趣旨からは取り扱えない。
　沖縄文学の近代小説「九年母」・琉歌「真境名安興」・詩山之口獏「沖縄よどこへ行く」他
　アメリカ統治下の沖縄文学小説(芥川賞受賞作)大城立裕「カクテル・パーティー」東峰夫「オキナワの少年」・詩「ある挽歌」「慟哭」「家郷への逆説」他
