根本さんのエッセイでは抜群に面白い、特に『根本敬中年愛≠ﾖの原体験』と『内田研究所とビックバン』と『尹松淑さんのこと』
で、吉田佐吉や、村田藤吉のモデルになった、人物が登場してくるので非常に興味深いですね。これを読んでやっと、根本さんの妄想が、危ないモンじゃ無いと分かりましたから、不思議なものです。

解放同盟の根本氏の果てしなき解放運動の記録。日々の生活では見過ごしてしまう人間の側面を言語化し、解放した記念碑的作品。

もしも宇宙人がどこかにいて、人類について知りたいと言ってきたら、私は聖書とこれを薦めたい。どちらも、人間がどういうものかを普遍的に描いているから。一昔前の「全体小説」というような言葉も思い出されるような、まさに巨編。何回読んだかわからない、永遠のマスターピース。

特殊漫画家・根本敬をして書かせたこの活字本は、タイトルの通り、彼の人生の点と点を鉄道の駅に例えて書かれたものである。
この本は、直接読んだ人に何かをもたらすわけではない。でも、何かはわからないが、中には何かがある。普段気づかないことに鋭敏に反応させるセンサーのような装置としての本である。

そういえば、松尾スズキがイチローに読ませたい本として挙げていたことが思い出される。
松尾曰く「だってそんなの聞かれてもわかんないじゃないですか」。
なんにもわからない人に唯一薦める手段としての本、そう、そんな本なのだとも思う。わからなさをわかるために、ぜひ。
