　これまで成功法則、自己啓発本、心理学、人生哲学、古典哲学を呼んできました。
　この本は、犬の視点から見たらもっとよく人間が見えてくるのではないか、という面白そうな切り口だな直感し、購入。

　まず、驚いたのが、さんざん笑い転げたこと。愛らしいちょっとおバカな犬の行動が目に浮かび、著者によるその解釈がまた、自分は賢いんだと思っている、そして自分の気持ちや自分のやりたい事なんてわかっているさ、というつもりのわれわれに強烈なメッセージとなるのです。

　まったく、心のしくみや成長に関する本を読んだことがない人には、後になってから読んでほしい。
　読む時期が早すぎると、たんなる面白い切り口の本で、従来の説を寄せ集めた本という評価にしかならないでしょう。

愛犬マンチーが、生きるうえでもっとも大切なことをレクチャーしてくれます。肩ひじを張ったり、悩んでもしょうがないことでクヨクヨしたり、自分をよく見せようとしたり、人間はとかく生きにくい動物です。

この本の見開きの片側にはイラストと英語原文が抜粋で掲載されていて、もう片側には日本語訳というレイアウトです。イラストはユーモアたっぷりですし、力を抜いてあるがままに生きてみようという気持ちにさせてくれる本です。いらないものをどんどん捨てていって、マンチーのように生きるのも悪くないと思います。生きるうえで一番大切なものは、心の中にあるからです。
