定年退職をしたと思われる著者の愚痴を並べたような内容ではある。しかし特に立派なことが書いてあるわけでもなく、淡々と最近の心情や読んだ本の感想が書かれているので最後まで読めたし、時々立ち止まって考えさせられる内容である。現在、希望に燃えている人には無縁の本だが、今後の人生に希望は持てないが生きていかねばならない人には参考になると思う。
老化も孤独も貧困も病気も嫌な事だが、そうなったら受け容れて淡々と生きていくしかないではないか。真っ当に地味に生きていくことの価値がわかる本である。

なぜ、という思いが強く残った。
この本に、著者が考える『なぜ？』が書いていないのが少し残念だった。

ただ、書いてあることに、いちいち納得してしまう本だった。
題名を読んだ時には、『昔はよかった！』などと書いてあるのかと思ったが、さにあらず。

自分の思う通りになんていくことがない、どんなに「いやな世の中」でも、人は生きていくしかない。
ただ、淡々と・・・

世の中の中心が自分であると考える「自分様」が多くなり、「与えてもらう」ことばかり考えている。
「自分様」は、人に与えることなど考えてもいない。

人々は、オリンピックを見ては、「感動」を与えてもらい、スポーツ選手は、子供に勇気を与えると言って、施設を訪れ、子供たちから「元気」を与えてもらう。

確かにそうかもしれない。

俺自身、電車の中で誰かに席を譲ったときに「ありがとう」の一言がなかったら、少しムッとするだろう。

「それは、礼儀だろ！！」

という人がいるかもしれないが、自分が与えることで満足できるならば、見返りは不要なはずである。
やはり、席を譲る代わりに、何かを求めているのだろう。

生きていくのに必要なものなんて、そう多くはないはず。
けれど、目にするもの、手に取るものが、なんとなく欲しくなってしまう自分がいる。



ワーズワースが言ったという。

「plain living and hing thinking.（低く暮らし、高く思う）」

そんな風に、多くを望まず、つつましく生きていくことができたらと思う。

自分様たちや、空々しい言葉が蔓延する今の世に対する＜ぼやき＞を聞いてる内容なので、
タイトルに反してけっこう読み易い。
著者を基準にした社会のぼやきで、社会学として考察してる内容ではない。
