著者の中山氏は、マイルスに関して別の新書でも本を出していますが、
マイルス本人の人生的な歩みに興味が無ければ、こちらのほうが紹介しているディスクの数が多いのでお勧めです。

ジャズは難しい物ではない。

著者の中山氏が、とてもわかりやすくそして面白おかしく語ってくれます。

本でこんなに笑ったのは久しぶりです。

是非ジャズビギナーの方は読んでみてください。きっともっとジャズが好きになることでしょう。

この本でマイルスと中山康樹に目覚めました。マイルスだけで人生やっていける！という著者の主張どおり、確かに他のジャズ・ミュージシャンのいわゆる名盤を聴くより、マイルスのアルバムを買い揃えるほうが手っ取り早い感動が得られました。結局、僕はこの本で入門したために、ジャズ・ファンではなく、マイルス・ファンになっただけでした。
