　大成拳とは時の権力者に与えられた名で、本来は意拳が正しい。
形意拳から学んだ王郷斎老師は、よりシンプル、直裁な、意拳を創始した。
　マス大山が唯一負けた陳老人とは、初期極真において交流のあった澤井健一氏であるという伝説があるが、澤井氏は王老師の日本人随一の直弟子であり、氏が意拳を大気拳という名で日本に広める許可を老師から貰ったことは、この書の序文における当時極真会館首席師範盧山初雄氏の言、「極真の技の中に澤井先生の影響があるのはこのようなことからである」にもあるとおりであり、最強の源流、王郷斉老師の意拳を知るきっかけになるだろう。
　内容は傳老師作の論文の訳に、意拳独特の立禅ともいわれる、タントウ、そして試力、活歩、発力、推手、散打などの写真解説が加わる。

意拳創始者である王向齋の「習拳一得」や「意拳正軌」「意拳論」などの著作の日本語訳が掲載されており、資料としては貴重なものである。中国武術関係者、特に意拳関係者は必携の本と言えるだろう。
