　小川隆夫のＪＡＺＺ論は、どれも一緒でもういい加減辟易しているので、この際、平野啓一郎のＪＡＺＺ論を読みたかった。それぞれ１０人のアーチストを評しているが、やはり平野特有の見識が垣間見られて面白かった。　最終章の二人の対談は、かみ合っているようでかみあっていない、お互い勝手気ままにしゃべっている、相手を無視しているように読めるのは、私だけだろうか?　あるいは、この新書編集者のウデの悪さか?

「〜とは誰か？」は、とりまく人たちとの関係でわかる、という方法論にもとづいたマイルス論。いわば外堀から埋めてゆこうというマイルス像なわけだが、では本丸を攻め落とせたか、というとこの新書レベルの分量でそれを求めるのは無理。1980年代以降の復活期に重心をシフトしつつあるのが新しい傾向か。
