こんな本、ありそうで、なかったです。how to本が多い中、マスコミ、特に新聞社の記者用のものって、見たことがありませんでした。学生であれば、せいぜい添削講座に行ったり、現役やOB記者の話を聞くくらい。一体、どうやったら、大学入試にさえ引用されるような文章を書けるようになるだろうか。特ダネというものを取材できるのだろうか。そんな疑問がすっきりと解けるような本です。著者は、記者経験者ばかりで、説得力あり。これまで、こういった「手の内」を明かしてはいけない世界だったのでしょうか、と思えるほど、目からウロコ、の教科書です。記者を目指す人だけでなく、文章力アップのために、メディア研究のために、と幅広く応用できる本だと思います。

4.0 out of 5 stars ようやく出た記者の教科書, 2004/4/17
ジャーナリストたちはプロを気取りながら、その養成方法は極めて杜撰だ。「見よう見まねで覚えるんだ！」という職人気取りの世界がまだまかり通っている。弟子からすれば「せめて師匠を選ばせてください」と言いたくなる。いい上司や先輩に出会わなければ、いい記者になれないからだ。

この教科書は、取材とは何かをとことん突き詰めて考えたジャーナリストたちによって書かれているので、取材のいろんなコツがわかる。記事を「逆三角形」に書くという基本も押さえている（この基本でさえ、いい先輩に出会わなければ教えてもらえない）。

ただ、あまり体系だって書かれているとは言えず、後半の「実践各論編」に至っては業界事情の域を出ていない。教科書と呼べるにはまだまだ不十分で本当は星１つにしたいところだが、記者教育の近代化に先鞭をつけたことを高く評価したい。

これまで取材する側のノウハウをここまで詳しく書いた本はなかったはずです。ただ、細かすぎて内容が多すぎな気もします。でもお勧めです。記者志望の方やライターの卵、ノンフィクション作家志望の方にお勧めですね。
