インド料理研究家で、東京でインド料理店を経営するミラ・メータさんの本。『はじめてのインド料理』続編。もちろん、この本だけでもOK。
カレーばかりでなく、コロッケのような料理やあえもの、飲み物、お菓子など、インド料理の世界が更に広がる。

材料はすべて日本でも手に入るし、子供にも大丈夫なメニューばかり。食卓が楽しくなることうけあい。また、スパイスを難しく考えず、自分でもちょっとした工夫で新しい料理が作れるものだと思えて、料理が楽しくなる。
レシピ集としてはもちろん、あらためて、器の美しさやテーブルセッティングの魅力も味わえる、見ているだけでも楽しい本。

おいしいカレーを作りたい人、まだ知らないインド料理を作りたい人、もう本場のインド料理を作って食べたらハマること請け合いです。

最近高いインド料理店が多い中、自分が食べたい一心で思い切って教室に通い始めましたが、この本を購入して一気にレパートリーが増えました。
写真も綺麗だし、何よりも知的なミラ・メータさんの作ったレシピ、作る人にとても判りやすいです。日本で普通に食べている食材が本格的なインド料理に大変身、一度に何種類も作れてしまいます。おかげで毎週末我が家でインド料理を楽しんでいます。

インド料理全般がこれ1冊でよくわかります。エッセイもあり、おもしろいインド食文化もわかります。家で本格インド料理が作れて嬉しいのはもちろんですが、インド料理店に出かけたときの楽しみも増えました。

私がこの本を買った理由のひとつが、全レシピ＆エッセイ全てに英訳がついていたことです。日本語のできないうちの主人も一緒に料理に参加できるかな？と。アメリカ人などにレシピを聞かれても、英訳せずにそのまま見せることができますね。そんな予定のない人も、料理英語を学ぶ教科書にできるのでは？　英語訳が付いてるということは、日本人好みにレシピを訂正されたのではなく本場の味を紹介されているからですね。こんなに簡単なんだ...というレシピばかりなのですが。本からインドの香りがしてきそうな満足な1冊です。
