ヤンスドッター,ロッタ
テキスタイルデザイナー。1971年生れ。幼少時代を祖母の家のあるフィンランドのオーランド島と、スウェーデンのストックホルムの両方で過ごす。20歳のときにアメリカのカリフォルニア州へ移住、スクリーンプリントを始める。1996年にはサンフランシスコでオリジナルブランド『Lotta Jansdotter』を立ち上げ、2002年にはスタジオとショップをオープン。自然素材を使った、オーガニックで洗練されたデザインのテキスタイルと、オリジナルの生活雑貨をアメリカ、日本を始めとして各国で販売し、注目を集める。2006年にはベースをニューヨークに移し、アーティストとして常に新しい表現を求め、活躍の場を広げている(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

巻末に作り方が載っていて、読んでからすぐに作れるのが魅力的。
パスポートがスッと入る隠れポケット付きマフラーや、アイマスク、スリッパなどトラベルグッズまで手作りできちゃう。
手持ちのスカートやズボンにお気に入りの布を足してリメイク、大きなバックからちょこっとお出かけバックまで。布にオリジナルプリントで柄を付けたりも！
家に眠っている布が大活躍できそう！実際に彼女が書いたデザインスケッチや、アトリエの風景も写っていて読み応えありの1冊です。彼女のコメントにも注目です。
