一口に言うと、やわらかい革で作る方が簡単です。これは材料と道具にお金がかかるので、やる気満々の人にオススメ。実際チャレンジしてみると、かなり難しいし、力が要ります。出来上がった鞄も革だけに重いので、世界で一つの手作りの鞄を大事にする心のある方に。作り方の説明は初級者より中級者向け程度。

江面旨美さんの自作鞄シリーズの２冊目の本です。
個人的には現在（２００６年）までに上梓された４冊の中で一番おしゃれな鞄が多く、また写真もきれいだと思いました。作り方の説明も親切です。ただ、材料店などの紹介は載っていないので、同じ江面さんの『私が使いたいバッグ』と併せて読めば、鞄を作りたい人に大変お勧めの本だと思います。
ちなみに作品集はカラーで、後半にそれらの作り方がまとめて白黒で載っています。

針と糸に無縁な私でしたが、バッグ(特に革のトート)を作ってみたいと思い、この表紙に目が留まって購入しました。

中身はシンプルな作例が中心。決してページ数、情報量の多い部類ではありませんが、基本的な作例では作業のステップ毎にカラーの写真付きで解説してあり、全くの初心者である私でも、ぱらぱらと目を通すだけで作業の内容を頭に思い描くことができました。作れそう！と思わせてくれる一冊です。
