この絵本に出会ったのは、２０年以上前。幼稚園の先生からのプレゼントでした。ページをめくる度に鮮やかな色が目に入り、その部屋の住人のそれぞれの世界が広がります。幼い日の私は、心を躍らせながら絵本の世界へと深く深く入って行きました。そして、最後の真っ黒い部屋・・・得体の知れない、なんとも言えない気持ち。「こんな暗い部屋に誰が住んでいるんだろう」。そんな不安をステキなファンタジーに変えてくれるのが、この絵本の素晴らしさだったと今になって思います。そして、読後に残るかすかな切なさ・・・とにかくオススメです！この絵本は、大人になった今でも大切にしている私の宝物です。

野原に建ったちいさなアパート。アパートにはやっつの窓。
やっつの窓に揺れる八色のカーテン。
添えられたほんの短いことばが、その部屋の暮らしを彷彿とさせる。
しみじみとした味わいの、人生のひとこまを切り取った絵とことば。
寂しさも喜びも、苦しみも想い出も夢も、こころが抱えるものを
感情が先走ることなくみせてくれる。
なのに、幻想的な趣で、切なく胸に迫ってくる。

開けられることのない黒いカーテンの部屋の秘密にぐっとくる。
夜は夜であるために、こんなふうに守られていたのか。
