サイトで有名になった『犬の十戒』の英訳本です。
内容は犬から飼い主への『十個のお願い』で、4冊を読み比べてみました。
言葉のセンスに多少の違いはありますが、基本的に内容は同じです、
ただこの本には『虹の橋』の英訳も書かれてあるので、一番のお薦めです。

内容についてですが、10個のお願いは、ごく当たり前のことです。
犬の老後、最期を看取った経験がある自分には当たり前すぎる『お願い』なので、
『犬の十戒』を読んで『泣けた』という意見が多いのには驚きました。
むしろ『虹の橋』の方が号泣しました。
当たり前のことなのに改めて言われないと考えてもみないこと・・・なのかも知れませんね。
犬を初めて飼っているという方は是非一度読まれてみて下さい。
そして愛犬と約束してあげて下さい。
犬にとっては飼われている家が全てなんです。
飼い主だけが頼りなんですから。
犬達の為にも、皆さんに読んでもらいたい。
この十個のお願いを守るべく自覚を持って欲しいのです。
言葉を話せない犬達の為に・・・。

別の犬の十戒（日本語訳）を読んだ後に購入致しました。虹の橋は最初に読んだ時、ペットロスで苦しむ方が同じ様にペットロスで病んでいる方々の心を癒す為に書かれた"人間の為"のお話しだと思いました。しかしこの本の内容を何度も思い出していると、心が少し救われた様な気持ちになると同時にさらに動物達への愛しさが込み上げてきました。犬の十戒には動物達のほんの少しの願いや伝えたい気持ち、そして人間と同じ様に嬉しい・寂しい・悲しいといった純粋な想いが文章となって描かれています。それは日常の中でのほんの些細な事・何でもない当たりまえの事なのに…居なくなってから気付いてもどうしようもなく、何もしてあげられないのです。。動物と暮らす全ての方々に是非読んで頂きたいと思います。

自分と愛犬との接し方をもう一度考えさせられた一冊です。動物に関するサイトでよく見かける作者不明の詩を日本語訳，絵本化した作品ですが、メグホソキさんの少し切ない絵とも合わせてとても感動的な作品だと思います。犬を飼っている方や犬好きの方はもちろん、そうでない方にもぜひお奨めしたいです。
