この人の作品はどれも素晴らしく、
可愛らしく上品なのに、
心の方が先にいかされてしまうような、えもいわれぬムードと色気があります。
(「真夜中を駆けぬける」のp.31なんてもうクラクラ・・・）　
特にこのシリーズは、知的にもくすぐられる緻密なストーリーと　
深く心に浸み入る情感を描いた描写の見事さで、
数多のＢＬ作品の中でも傑出しています。

作者の深く物思う心や　
遥か遠くを見つめる静かな眼差しを映したような　登場人物達の心の声。
ストイックに描かれているのに、なぜか内面の情動を切ない位に感じられる　
主人公達の美しい表情やしぐさ。
繊細かつ雄弁に描かれた、セリフをおさえたカットの数々。

それらのシーンの合間からは詩情さえ感じられ、
時に胸を衝かれる程の強い情愛を描いているはずなのに、
読後にリフレインされる印象は、限りなく静謐な美しさを湛えた世界・・・。

６年の歳月を紡いで丁寧に描かれた、この作品を読んでいる時、
なぜか私の頭の中には
パット･メセニーの"IT'S FOR YOU"　が自然に流れてきました。
他の何にも代え難い存在と気付いて　お互いを終生求め合ってゆく　
主人公達の近くて遠い「心の旅」を描いたこの物語に、
何故か微かな寂寥感が流れているように感じるのは、
人であるが故の心の移ろい易さに　諦めと恐れを抱きながらも、
変わらぬ思いをもお互いの胸の内に秘めて　歩み寄ってゆく主人公達の姿が、
神聖な巡礼者の様にも感じられるからかもしれません。
その”さみしさ”が、この作品に一層美しい印象を与えている気がします。

読み直す度に、この作家に出遭えた僥倖と　生きている喜びを感じられる程に、
充足感と幸福感を私に与えてくれる本です。
