キレイな料理本、オシャレな料理本は数々あれど、普通のおかあさんが普通に家族のために作ってきた普通のおかず。子供の頃は何気なく食べてきたけれど、いざ自分が母になったとき「そういえばアレはどうやって作っていたんだろう」という我が家の味があるはず。この本にある料理たちもそんな普通のおかあさんが普段作ってきたおかずをある日娘が改めて教えてもらい「へぇ、そうだったの」と母親との会話とともに紹介。読むと普段あまり作らない「炒り豆腐」や「おから」なんか作ってみようか、という気になってくる。スルメを煮物に使うとか、水を使わないで煮ると腐りにくいなんていう知恵にも納得。自分の親にももっと聞いておくんだった！

昭和40年代生まれの私は母になり、自分の
子供時代にあった食卓をこの本の中に見つけました。
そして我が家の食卓の乏しいことに愕然となりました。

仕事にかまけて覚えようとしなかった母の味を
今なら頭を下げて教えてもらいたい気分です。(笑)

筆者と母の会話は、読み物としても懐かしく楽しいです。
