どこまでが本当で、どこまでが脚色なのかなあ、と思うところもあるけれど、一話一話が良く出来ていて、構えずに、単純に面白い本として楽しむことができる。

笑える話の他にも、ベンツに使われている「鉄」の秘密に迫る、「鉄のかがみ」や、シートの表皮に使われる「革」がどのように作られるかを紹介した、「皮が革になる日」などは、後々の福野氏のコラムによく出てくる話の原点がうかがえる。

自分が好きなのは、「神よ、ドイツよ、エメラルド」だ。はるばるドイツからやって来た塗装の神様を描いた短編だが、なんかちょっとホロリとしてしまいそうな、いい話だ。

割と短めの分量の本で、車、特に外車が好きな人は、買ってみて２時間ほど楽しんでみてもいいのではと思う。

ホメずにいられないのパート２である。
ＣａｒＥｘに連載していた物とは順番が変わっていて
私的には１より２の方が好きな話が多い。
「神よ、ドイツよ、エメラルド」
の中に出てくるセリフ
「世の中には名人の上に『神様』ってのがいるんだ。おっさんの姿をした
『塗装の神様』がな」
名セリフである。
「極意」では鈑金屋の陽ちゃんの話

これに興味を持ち、そして私自身が職人になり
現在理解できる陽ちゃんは
パート２に出てくるＰＤＩセンターでの職人より上である。
氏のおかげでわかる人間になった自分が今ある。

福野礼一郎　まさに褒めずにはいられない。

書店での立ち読みで済ますには濃い密度と多い量の内容。
再読に値するかは読み手の好みと章によるだろうが、私は大抵の章を再読をしている。
読んで人生が変わるような本ではないが、読むとチョット薀蓄が語れるかも知れない。
トイレタイム用にするには、一回相当分の分量が多いので、朝の急いでいるトイレタイムには向かない
