あいにく、らもさんの小説読んだことないのだが、こうした深みのある人生歩んで来られた偉人賢人の作品は、もはや世俗を超越しているため、なかなか権威付けされない。作家というより、ろくでなしに慈愛を傾けた物好きで、神仏のような見下ろした態度は、既に市井の人とはいえない。もうこの世にいないと見える。インスタントな悟りを得た聖人。社会の底辺をうろつけば塩が浸む。本書も最低人間のオンパレードで、胸が悪くなるようなことばかりだ。しかし、どうして悟った人というのは、無口にならなければいけないのだろう。数年前に朝生に出たが、殆どしゃべらなかった。バカをやっているうちが、人生花だったのかも。

すごく面白いことを思いついたりやったりできる人の大部分はおそらく「たまらん人々」である。解説にもあるとおり、中島らも自身もたまらん人のようだ。こういう面白過ぎる人たちというのは、ナイスガイとは言い難いことが多い。私生活はもちろんめちゃくちゃで、当然体はぼろぼろで長生きできない。生まれつき体が丈夫な場合には、今度は精神のほうが持たなかったり、突然事故で死んだりする。そういった意味で賞味期限はあまり長くない。この本は中島らもの冗談作者としての賞味期限内に書かれた傑作である。

この本は、私が初めて買った中島らも作品である。
内容は、らも氏のサラリーマン時代の同僚や上司との間で巻き起こった事件、あるいは当時からの親友であったキッチュ（松尾貴司）との間での出来事などがテーマとなっている。

らも氏が「今夜すべてのバーで」にて売れっ子作家になる前の作品であり、数ある著作の中ではマニアックなアイテムに属すると思われる。
らも氏自らによる挿絵もなかなか良い味を出している。
