先月の２５日の出版記念パーティでは、立ち見の客が続出するほどの盛況ぶりで
最後にサイン会があったのだが、長蛇の列で３０分待ちとなった。
前著書の『裏のハローワーク』、『実録ドラッグレポート』など、
累計４０万部も売ってしまう作家であるのだから、当然の人気ぶりだ。
さらに客層の幅も、還暦間近なオッサンから、２０代前半の女の子までと
その幅の広さも彼の人気の所以だろう。

そして全ての著書に共通する『裏の世界』という
誰もが興味を抱くが、踏み入ることの出来ない領域を
草下シンヤは、自らの身体を賭け、実際に足を深く踏み込み、
首の皮一枚で繋がっているような体験を元に、
事細かくリアルに書ききっている。
そのリアルさに、読んだ人間全てが、本を手にするだけで
さも自分が、その場に居合わせたような疑似体験をし、
背筋を震わせてしまうのだ。
実際、僕もそのひとりだ。

その草下シンヤが万を期して今回、『闇稼業人』を出版した。
今回は今までの本とは違い、全編小説となっているおかげで、
さらにその疑似体験具合は増しに増し、
読んだ人間誰もが、主人公、仲間和也になりきり、
数々の闇の試練を経験することになるだろう。
裏のシノギ、ゴト、覚醒剤、人身売買、ヤクザとの対立
最後には、不法入国して
北朝鮮にまで辿り着き、一仕事してしまうのだ。

これが実話を元にしているのだから、半端ない話だ。

一体何処まで行けば、満たされるというのか
まさに命がけの世界がそこにある。

『闇稼業人』を１ページ開いてしまったら、
その日のうちに、北の地を踏んでいる事は間違いない。

「裏のハローワーク」等、ドラッグ等裏社会についてのレポートで評価されている草下シンヤ氏の小説処女作。
人物描写などもの足りぬ部分はあるが、物語を貫く疾走感とパワーがそれを補って余りある。著者の処女作にかける意気込みも伝わって来、力のある作品に仕上がっていると思う。
次作以降も楽しみ。

サブカル界で幅広く活躍している草下シンヤ氏の処女小説「闇稼業人」
裏社会やブラックマネーを背景としたアウトロー小説になっている。
裏取引の中には、核開発には欠かせない遠心分離機が登場するなど話の幅は広い。

新聞やテレビで多々取り上げられる裏社会やブラックマネー問題だが、報道口調ではなかなか本質まで伝わってこない。
だが、そこはその筋の餅屋である草下氏の手にかかると一味違う。
１５０キロの直球がドスンと胸に突き刺さるだろう。

草下氏の代表作である「裏のハローワーク」でも評価をされているように、
もともと受動的である「文章」というものが草下氏の手にかかると能動的に変化するから不思議だ。
