見開き1ページに収めるタイプのノウハウ伝授本は最近増えていますが、この本もそのスタイルですね。理系でない人にも、化学（一部物理）を親しめるような構成になってます。
化学便覧や物性事典などふつうは開かないし、きっと手にしたこともないはず。
その点、（「萌えて覚える・・・」という部分はちょっと置いといて）気に入った元素モデル娘のイラストから、元素に興味をもってもらうということはとっかかりとしてはいいでしょう。

それから、どんな辞書や書物にも間違いはあると、何冊も本を書き翻訳を手がけている先生がいってました。この本にもチョコチョコと間違いはありますから、間違い探しの勉強をするのはおもしろいと思います。

明らかな間違い
p.69（亜鉛）トタンは、鉄と亜鉛の合金、ではなく「鉄に亜鉛をメッキしたもの」
p.109（スズ）ブリキは鉄とスズの合金、ではなく「鉄にスズをメッキしたもの」

電子構造はふつう電子軌道の式だけだが、この本ではあくまでイメージではあるが、電子構造図が載っているから、元素の中にどのくらい電子が詰まっているのかが具体的でわかりやすい。
目が回るくらい点々を数えたら（ノーベル賞受賞者のように？）新しい発見ができるかも。

なお、イラストはあくまで元素の特徴や利用例の特徴を「擬人化」したものであってフランケン同様、人間ではないということは頭の隅にいれておくのがいいですね。しかも２次元は２次元ですから（笑）

それと、他のかたのレビューで
「●臭素(p.79) ブロマイドの由来、臭化銀は写真フィルムではなく印画紙の感光材料。」と書かれている方がいますが、印画紙には臭化銀は塗りません。

左側が漫画になってて、右側だけが説明になっているので、読みやすくて、そして圧迫感がなくていい。
科学が嫌いな子供も無理なく読めて、次のページが見たくなる・・って感じです。

実は萌えキャラを描いているイラストレータは元素ごとに違うんだが、
巻末にイラストレータの名前と公式サイトのURLが掲載されているので、
お気に入りのイラストレータを見つける楽しみ方もあるかも。
