パワーショベルのエンジン音、電車の警笛がお話の中に、上手につかわれています。五歳の息子も大好き。声に出してぜひ読んでみてください。とっても、気持ちがいいですよ。
　ブルくんや、電車の顔も、楽しみです。

乗り物好きな２歳半の子供のために選んで買いました。大成功で毎晩、読む絵本の中に入っています。ちょうど２歳~３歳児ぐらいからOKという感じの本だと思います、絵の描写がとても細かいので小さいお子さまには向きませんが、内容は大人まで心があったかくなるようなお話で
横溝さんの本を他にも買い求めたくなりました。

パワーショベルのブルくんは別に目や口がついているわけではなく、作業者のおじさんたちに助けられて仕事をこなす機械です。作業中に崖の下に落ちてしまったショベルのブルくんを探したり、助けたりする作業着のおじさんたちがよく描かれています。かわいらしくデフォルメされた絵ではないですが、電車に引かれて作業場にいくブルくんと、それを操縦したり補佐したりするおじさんたちのひたむきな様子が伝わってくる絵本です。私も息子も大好きです。ショベルのブルくんが落ちて雪にのまれる場面では、息子は本当に悲痛な声をだします。ブルくんを見つけにきてくれる一人のおじさん。「かわいそうに、今すぐには助けられないけれど、油をさしてあげよう」という台詞に、他の本にはない働くおじさんたちの車を愛する姿勢が伝わってきます。
