先に謝っておきます。酷評です、すいません。

さて、内容です、が、
はっきり言って「・・・・・・」。
ちょっと期待外れでした。

ここしばらくは、火坂雅志著「天地人」上・中・下はじめ、「密謀」上・下　藤沢周平著ほか上杉家＆直江兼続関係多々読んでいる為、おさらいのつもりで読みながらも、「妻お船」とここではあえて記載してあっため新しい情報を期待していた。

しかしながら前半〜中盤は、先の夫：長尾景孝を蕗姫と争ったことを詳しく掘り下げ、これに終始（ちょっと幼稚なハーレクイーンを思わせる）。
その後は、景孝を養子にしながらも直江の影の軍団：軒轅を切り回し、更に景孝死後、与六を夫にしたことなど実に淡々と、淡々と綴っている。
それこそ後半は、歴史的な事実を悪い言葉で言うなら「端折」って書かれ、この本を最初に読んだ人には何が何だか解からないのではないかと不安にさせた。

あらためて考えてみると、この本を私の年代層では読んではいけないのではないか？ＮＨＫ［天地人］のキャストに合わせた20代の女性、あるいはハーレクイ−ン好きの奥様方に読ませるための本ではないか？
更に、今更ながらよくよくこの本の表紙イラストを見て、上記を確信した。
そうか、それがしの判断ミスだったか・・。
確かに、この本を買う際、このイラストには違和感があったのだ、情けない！

大河ドラマで直江兼続存在を知り、彼に関する本が読みたくて、最初に手に取ったのがこの本です。主の命により婿入りしたとはいえ、妻お船とは「どんな夫婦だったのかな〜」と気になっていたんです。大河ドラマとは設定は違いますが、兼続が幼少の頃からお船に想いを寄せ、その想いは死ぬまで変わらず、お船に「１人ぐらいなら許してあげます」と側室を進められても「女人はお船どのだけで十分ですよ」と彼女だけを求めている。多少のフィクションはあっても、一途で1人の女性だけを愛する兼続を見たい人にはおススメです！文章も読みやすく、また読みごたえも十分ですよ。
