森先生の言葉を選ぶ基準は、まず外すということで、あえてふつうは使わないような言い回しをすることからはじめています。あまり外すと意味不明になりますから、そこはセンスが大事になります。なんだ科学的じゃねえなと思われても仕方ないのは創作がブラックボックスだからだと思います。

島田荘司先生は森先生の言葉が自立したがっている、または前後の文脈なしで独立しようとしていると言っておられます。要するにありものでないからひっかかるということですね。

ただ、ファンの方は作品を通して言葉を味わっているからよくわかるのでしょうが、いきなりこの本を読んだ場合はどうなるかわかりません。なんだコノヤロウという気持ちで向かえば、衝撃的では決してない言葉の集まりですから軽んじられるのも仕方ないかなと思います。

文章のアウトラインがはじめにあって、細部に模様を入れていくのは職人のようです。感情のままに書きまくるということはそう多くないように見えます。

職人の作法は、現代においてみればゆっくりとしていて飽きられるかもしれません。同じことを続けていると、またかといわれてしまうかもしれません。

ただ、目先の新しさでなく、自分なりの目標を立てて一つ一つを作りこんでいく姿勢が森博嗣の選択した作家像ならそれにはゆっくりとついて行こうと思います。今まで述べたように新刊をあせって買う必要のある作家ではありません。受け手と送り手の環は私に限って言えば完全に閉じています。だからこそ、乱暴な気性のレビューも書けます。そうだろうか。

この種の理解、接し方をする人にはまだ会ったことがありません。
これぐらいになれる作家とその文章とは、よいものではないでしょうか？

　相変わらず言葉は選ばれていて厳選されている言葉たちだと思う。
しかし、前作に比べれば詩的な情緒感が足りないと思ってしまう。だが、言葉の鋭さならば今回の作品集が一番ではないだろうか？
　森博嗣氏の考え方や、思考、今までの作品に対する姿勢などをトレース出来る一冊だと思う。

この本は、的の中心を射る金メダル級の言葉を集めた感動する本ではなく、少しずれたところを射った銀メダル級の言葉を集めたじんわりと納得させてくれる本です。言葉も短い言葉ばかりなので、あっちゅう間に読めますよ。あえて的を外した言葉達が、逆に本質っぽい感覚を与えてくれます。はっきりとした言葉よりも感覚として、私達の的を射っているような感じを受けました。決してずっしりとした感動や感銘を受ける本ではありませんが、軽い雰囲気を漂わしてくれる本ですね。気楽に楽しく読めるので、気分転換の一冊になると思います。
