「聖なる人になるということは，・・・あなたと私，つまり皆にとって義務なのです．」この本のいちばん始めの言葉が印象的。
では、日本に住む私たちにできることは何だろう。

＊そばにいる人の話に耳を傾け、静かに聴いてあげる。

地味なことだけども、みんなが求めていること。
シンプルな愛です。

マザー・テレサを読んでいくと、他人事ではないんですね。キリスト教徒の慈善事業という先入観はアッというまになくなって、人間、いのち、生きるという根源的なことがらが問われます。
