立体視の作品集『任意の点P』、イメージとして確かに存在するが言葉で解釈できないビジュアルを集めた『イメージの読み書き』など、これまでにない新しい表現に取り組む佐藤雅彦研究室。同研究室のメンバーのうち、菅俊一と石川将也が佐藤とともに2005年から取り組んでいるのが「差分(さぶん)」という新しい表現を追究するプロジェクトです。

“ピタゴラスイッチ”佐藤雅彦センセイと
氏の研究室のプロジェクトの成果発表本。

アニメーションのように静止画を時間を使って
動いているように見せる、と云うアプローチではなく
「差分」とは二枚の静止画から脳内に動きが
浮かび上がってくる様である。（と私は解釈している）

それは実際の動きではないため、
多分に脳による錯覚や補完というフィルターがかかり
物語性が付加される。それは単なる見え方の問題ではなく
言語認識や認知科学の問題にまで踏み込んでいく。

巻末に収められた脳科学者・茂木健一郎と筆者の対談では
茂木氏が筆者の質問に対し「それは良くわからないですね」
を連発する。それだけ難しい問題であり、今後の
研究によっては思わぬ表現を産み出せる可能性に満ちている。

しかし類書がまるで無い、という意味では
大変知的興奮に溢れた一冊である。

今日届いたばかりで
ぱらぱらめくっただけですが
視覚的に相当面白い本があります。

それは、
差分
佐藤 雅彦 (著), 菅 俊一 (著), 石川 将也 (著)
美術出版社
です。

私の大好きな
ピタゴラスイッチ（身の回りの道具で動きを再現するもの。主にボールを使う。NHK番組。）
の監修として有名な
佐藤雅彦さんが書かれた本です。

また、私は点・線を見ると
数学的な考えで楽しめます。また、錯覚の視点からも楽しめます。
（大学で、錯覚の授業を受けていたので。
　錯覚は身近なところでは、スピード出さないように道路に
　どんな記号を書けば有効なのかなどに使われています。
　ギリシャ神殿の形も錯覚が使われ、大きく見えます。）

2次元の中で、どう再現すれば一つ次元が上の3次元を描けるのか？
それを応用すると、3次元（さいころなどを使い）の中で4次元を描けます。

また、次元を一つ下げたところで描くものだけでなく、
単純に二つの絵を見て、人が思う心理もついた
発見の多い素晴らしい視点で書かれた本です。

また、今日もこの本を読み、新たな発見を得たいと思います。

あらかじめ備わっている
物語る（物語ってしまう）力に、
改めておどろかされた。

そう、理屈ではないのです。
論理ではなく、
把握した状況をどうとらえるか。

とにかく、面白かった。
