この本は、「21世紀のアートがわかる」ようになるための「教科書」ではありません。「現代美術」についての解説があるわけではなく、専門用語が羅列されているので、（難解とされる「現代美術」を少しでも理解できるようになりたいと思う）一般人には敷居の高い本です。この本のタイトルに何故「教科書」と付けたのか理解が及びませんが、（中身を確認できない）オンラインでの購入の際は、私のように間違えて注文してしまう人もいるかと思いますので、（専門家にとっては☆5つかもしれませんが、）☆3つとしました。

現代アート初心者・興味のある方々が、当書を読んで、「現代アートのことを理解した！」と思えることはまず１００％ありえません。

当本を企画なさった出版社さんが、もし本当に「現代アート初心者・興味のある方々」向けの本を書くのであれば、芸術批評家しかわからないような熟語・言い回しの使用を一切やめ、図やチャートで分かりやすく書かれることをお奨めします。

このような本を「現代美術の教科書」として本を売ってしまうこと自体、現代アート人口が極少となってしまっている要因であると思います。

本当の意味での「現代美術の教科書」の企画を当出版社さんに期待し、☆一つではなく２つとさせていただきます。

　過去の名作と現在の傑作を繋いでキーワードで美術の歴史を追っていく『概論』。
　架空の対談形式で作家にスポットを当てる『演習｢対話型・作品鑑賞シミュレーション｣』。作品と作品をリンクさせて文脈で考察する『演習｢リンク型・比較鑑賞ワークショップ｣』。『演習』が一番面白かった。

　『現代美術の教科書』というタイトルから想像するような、現代美術を初心者にも分かり易く教えてくれる解説書ではありません。現代美術の専門用語や歴史や作家に詳しくないと難しくて全然理解出来ない。現代美術を批評した本として読めば勉強になると思う。
　白黒の写真が有ったのが残念(作品の写真は全部カラーで観たい)。
