人を愛するということ（愛しかた）・・を改めて考えさせてもらえる、心あたたまる絵本です。
巣から　落ちたひなどりを、モール君は、ずっと自分のそばにおいときたくて、ペットにしたいと思いました。でも、それは　モール君はひなどりを【あいしているから・・・】
お母さんとお父さんは、『野生のとりだから、はなしてあげなさい！』とモール君に言います。でも、おじいちゃんは、そっと・・愛しかたをモール君に教えてあげました。私もきっと、モール君の母親のように頭ごなしに怒ってしまったのでは・・！？
でも、このおじいちゃんのように、子供の気持ちを考えながら、どんなにつらくても、愛するということは、相手のことを思いあってあげなくてはいけないこと・・を言葉ではなく教えなくては・・。私もこんなおじいちゃんのようでいたいなあ・・と反省しました。みなさんも、是非お子さんと一緒に読んでみてください。

この本には、
「だって　あいしているんだもん」という言葉が
2度出てきます。
最初はモーグくんが、ひなどりを離さないと決めた時、
そして次は、ひなどりを離してあげると決めた時。
私はいつも、2度目の「あいしているんだもん」を読むときに、
姪を抱き寄せて目を見て、ゆっくりと言うようにしています。
姪は5月で3歳になります。
あいしている、という言葉の意味はよく分からなくても、
私が大事なことを伝えようとしていることは、感じているようです。

美しい絵、登場人物のやわらかく短いセリフ、訳の素晴らしさ、
大人が感動して伝えられると、
子どもの心にも届くものだと実感します。

モグラのモール君が小鳥と出会って大事に育てるお話です。
全篇、綺麗な絵で、絵を見てるだけでも、優しい気持ちになります。
子供だけでは無く、大人が見ても楽しめる本ですが、内容も絵も感動出来る本なので是非子供に読んで上げたい本です。
