　正直、歌野さんの作品レベルとしては普通。あっと驚く仕掛けのあった「葉桜・・・」の次ぎに出た本と言う事で、期待し過ぎの感もあるにはありましたが、う~ん、やっぱり物足りないですね。
　序盤から中盤にかけては、ミステリアスな雰囲気でいつも通り期待させてくれるのですが、だんだんファンなら、オチがある程度見えてきてしまい、またラストもファンの期待通りの終わり方。あっと驚くのですが、正直目新しさが欠けています。１冊ごとに用意される歌野さんのビックリ箱のような面白さがこの本はやや弱いと言った感じがしますね。

「葉桜の季節に君を想うということ」で一躍メジャーとなった歌野さんの最新書き下ろし作ですね。多くの読者は「葉桜~」で初めて著者に触れて消化不良感に苛まれ、再挑戦ということで本作を手にとられることと思う。前代表作の「世界の終り、あるいは始まり」から著者に触れているファンの読後感としては、「今度はこう来たか！やられた！」というよりも、「またこれか！」という印象が強いですね。ミステリーの出来てしてはマズマズで十分それなりに楽しめるし、読後ただちに要所要所を読み返してみたくはなるのですが・・（エチオピアに造詣のある読者を除く）。著者には、次作では是非「新しい路線」を開拓していただきたいと思いますね。
