『ねにもつタイプ』を読もうと思ったら、先にこちらの著書があったので読みました。
なんだかもういろいろ突き抜けていて「大丈夫か？」と心配になるくらい面白かったです。
著者が普通に会社勤めしていたのだと思うと、根拠もなく「私も大丈夫かも知れない」と感じられました。
岸本さん、ありがとうございます。

日々の疑問、昔から解せないこと、未解決の思い出、などを徒然に紹介。
脱力系です。妄想入っています。

1993年から1999年に雑誌に掲載された文章が収録されているので、ちょっと古い。
作者が会社勤めをしていた頃の話もけっこうあり、「国際きのこ会館の思ひ出」が最高。
文章も笑えるけれど、きのこ会館自体が凄い。
この宿泊施設、今は閉鎖されたらしく、とても残念です。

作者は翻訳家で、その職業病や翻訳の苦労も良い味を出しています。
ちゃんと仕事しているんだ、と思いました（失礼）。

私は、後に出た「ねにもつタイプ」を先に読みました。
「ねにもつタイプ」の方が笑えたかな。
「気になる部分」は、わりと普通なエッセイが多い気がします。
ノスタルジックなちょっと良い話もあります。
しかし、そう思ってしまう自分にかなり不安を感じる。
ひょっとして岸本ワールドに慣れたのか？

ちなみに2000年に白水社から出版された単行本を、ｕブックスで再度刊行。
川上弘美さんによせたエッセイ？が追加されています。

こんなエッセイ待ってました。
妄想と現実をひょいひょい飛び越えながら、実に日常的！私の笑いツボにドカンとハマりました。
岸本さん同様、家で仕事をする身なので、共感できる部分もたくさんあり、「大丈夫かも？自分」と思えました。
彼女が翻訳したものも、ひとくせありそうな作家ばかり。特にお気に入り（らしい）のニコルソン・ベイカーも漁ってみたいと思ってます。
