今までに出ているアラビア文字入門の本は、（当然書くために学ぶわけですから）書き方に重点を置いたものが多いと思うのですが、この本は、文字を見て読んで楽しむための本です。
１文字ずつの説明があり、街の看板や印刷物の写真の中のアラビア文字を読んでいくようになっています。
普段の本で見るような活字の文字とは違う、説明がないと読めないような、デザイン化された、時にはかわいい看板の文字などを見ると、親しみがわいてきます。

ＣＤが付いているという理由で買ったものの、
特に会話の練習が入っているわけではなく、完全にアラビア語の書き方のみを紹介している本だと思います。
文法や語彙、会話は殆どゼロに近いほど載っていないので、
ヘビのような難しい文字の書き方を勉強される方には役立つ本だと思います。

全く初めてアラビア語の世界に足を踏み入れる方、若しくは、過去にアラビア語を勉強しようと試みたが、その難解さ故に挫折してしまった方等には取り組みやすい書。

文法知識、単語知識、発音その他、一般に語学の学習に於いて重要視されている要素については、本書には期待できない。

本書ではただ単にアラビア文字に目を慣らす程度のことしか出来ない。ただ、それを全面的に否定するわけではなく、むしろ最初歩の段階に於いては比較的面白みをもって読み進めることが出来る書なのではないかと思う。
