独学ではじめたアラビア語学習の最初の１冊として買いました。アルファベットの書き順、単語にしたときのつなげ方などを説明してくれる入門書のなかで一番丁寧な本だと思います。とりあえずアルファベットの読み書きがあやふやでは学習がスタートできないので、この本には疑問の残らないほど丁寧に説明してくれるという点で、本当にお世話になりました。ただ発音もフォローしようと思うと、別売1460円のカセットを買わなければいけません。せめてカセットでなくCDであれば・・・。アラブで使われる数字の書き方の説明、文化の解説（エジプトについて）、アラビア習字のページもあります。数字の勉強をしておくことでその後の学習がスムーズになったという実感はありました。独学する初学者にはぜひおすすめしたい一冊です。

エジプトに観光に行くことになり，アラビア語はあきらめて，アラビア文字だけでも知ろうと，本書で一箇月勉強して出かけた。こんな目的にうってつけの本。 現地では，単語を知らないので，読めるものは少なかったが，看板・標識の多様な書体が堪能できた。

本書は印刷によく使われるナスヒー体だけでなく，街でよく見かけるルクア体について具体的に学べる点もよい。アラビア文字の美しさがわかる本だ。
