フランスでポルトガル語をはじめ、仏葡辞書が最初の印象とは逆に
あまり充実していないのに愕然とし、後、仏葡と英葡の併用
で試しましたが、ブラジルで現在使われている語彙をカバーしきれ
ていないため、ブラジルで葡葡の辞書を買って使っていました。
それはそれで小説などを読むのにはよいのでしょうが、今度は文法、
用例等にかたよりがあるとのことで、３冊併用しても思うように動
きがとれませんでした。いよいよ日本語版を探し、一番使い勝手のよ
い辞書にめぐり合ったというのがこの辞書でした。葡語はれっきと
したヨーロッパの言語でありながら、他のラテン系の言葉と比べると
学習教材が充実していないというのが実感です。
日本では日系人や在日ブラジル人の存在のおかげか、現在の慣用に
即した教材があるようで、「灯台下暗し」日本の教材を最初にあた
ればよかったと思っています。ただ、英語、仏語や西語や伊語独語
にくらべるとやはり中級以上の充実した教材が皆無に近いというの
はとても残念なことです・・・
経済用語等、ブラジルで使われている語彙はポルトガルで使われ
ているものと著しく異なり、絶え間ない補充が必要とされると
思いますが、さらなる充実に期待します。編纂者のご苦労、ご尽力に
感謝申し上げます。

　旧版と同じく改訂版も、ポルトガル語の発音を「音声記号」で説明していますね。いまや洪水のように出版されているポルトガル語の単語集や文法書、会話書のほとんどが、このことを実行できていないのですから、これには頭が下がります。カタカナ風に発音する日本人に、よくブラジル人が、「カタカナはポルトガル語ではない！」と批判します。そんなとき、「でも、ぼくのワープロでは、音声記号を打てないから」とか、「日本人には難しいから」といって、結局、日常の日本語のカタカナを、発音を表現する表記に書き換えて、無理やり使っています。Diasを「ヂーアス」や、Rioを「ヒオ」のように。
　さらにこの改訂版が素晴らしいのは、ブラジルの用法とポルトガルの用法を、さりげなく指摘していることとです。そして、ブラジルの街角でよく聴く会話的表現などもたっぷり増やしています。１冊そばに置いておけば、十分、仕事ができるでしょう。旧版同様、改訂版も応援します！

この辞書、ただの単語集であるだけで、例文もほとんど載っていません。
日本のポルトガル語辞典では、唯一発音記号表示されていると、あるレビューにありますが、英語で書かれたポルトガル語辞書なら、どれも載っています。
さらに、この値段、高すぎます。
洋書のサイトで、英ー葡、葡ー英の辞書を購入することをお薦めします。
