　企業の危機管理対策として最近注目されている「ＢＣＭ」の現実的な構築方法について、中小企業庁の出した指針をベースにかなり具体的に解説している。
　日本でもＢＣＭ（あるいはＢＣＰ）のノウハウ本は既に少なからず出版されているが、その内容の多くはいわゆる大企業を念頭に置いたものである。本書を読めば、ＢＣＭは必ずしも大企業だけのものではないことがよくわかる。
　昨今多発している災害などへの対策の大切さはよく理解しており、うちもなにかしなければならないと思っているが、なにからどう手を打てばよいのかわからないし、そのためだけに社員を割く余裕もない−−−そんな中小企業の社長さんにこそ、本書は役に立つはずだ。

BCM（事業継続管理）とは、「組織が存続し続けるために中核事業の特定と事業継続に関する障害を認識し、災害時等において当該事業を継続するための手順（BCP）の確立、及び、その手順を有効に機能させるための教育や訓練、更新、災害に対する事前対策までを含めた管理プロセス」のことです。

わが国では、2006年2月に経済産業省中小企業庁が、“中小企業BCP策定運用指針 第1版”を公表しました。この本は、その指針を検討したBCP有識者会議のメンバーが、初心者に向けて、“身の丈にあったBCPを一人でも作れる”よう易しい解説をこころがけて共同執筆したものです。
