この本がゲノム医学の”入門”書として適当かどうか、正直なところ、医学に素人の私には判別がつきません。著者の履歴や、私も何冊か読んだ今までの著作から想像すると、”異端”という評価を受けているのかもしれません。

でも読後の率直な感想は、とても感銘を受けた、の一言でした。著者の「考えること」の大切さや全体像にこだわる姿勢は、本論をとても説得的なものにしています。精神障害や発達障害などの病気を分子生物学的観点から最先端の知見を紹介し、それら知見を全体像から肉付けをしている下り（第８・９章）は個人的に興味を持っている分野であることもあいまって、繰り返し読み込んだ次第です。

著者によるこの分野の本が待ち遠しい限りです。

「ゲノム」というキーワードをタイトルの一部に冠した一般向けの本は、数えるのが大変なほどあり、もちろん良書も多いのだが、この本はそれら複数の本を読んだ中では最も良質だと思えたもののひとつだ。著者は自らの総合的な方法論をかなり踏み込んで丁寧に紹介しているが、これほど豊かな肉付けがなされた記述は珍しい。精神障害等を単純にゲノムレベルの生物的な基盤に還元することからは最も遠い総合的な方法論でありながら、ゲノムレベルとの関連性へのクリアな認識が、この本を手に取るどんな読者にも得られるはずだ。
