有機ELとは，次世代ディスプレイ技術の中で最も有望な技術です．有機ELのことを知らない人もこの本を読めば有機ELの基本を理解できると思います．著者は有機ELの国家プロジェクトの座長であるだけに，広い視野を持って有機ELについて著述しています．液晶，ブラウン管等の現在実用化されているディスプレイと比較して有機ELが持つ利点から始まり，有機ELが光る仕組み，有機ELの製造方法，有機ELの材料，有機ELの解決すべき問題に言及しています．難しい専門用語や数式は無く，ページの下に著者自身の解説文も載っていて，有機ELについての絶好の入門書と言えるのではないでしょうか?

いくつか文献を読んだり、Webのレポートを読んだりしてきましたが、この本を読むのが有機EL
を理解するには一番近道だと思います。他の学者さんが書いている本は、正確さを求めるため
か読む方も気合を持って読まなくては、内容についていけないが、この本は非常に取っ付き易
い。周りの同僚からの意見も同じような評判です。

有機ELの現状(03年)について、研究現場の当事者である著者が素直な気持ちで技術からビジネス、今後の展望について述べている。
図解も多く要点は繰り返し主張されているため、特に本分野に明るくない方でも読みやすいと思われる。ただ技術解説に比べてビジネス展開についてはやや理論が弱い印象。パネル製品の信頼性においても半減期(＝寿命)を参考としている点など気になった。
