まだまだありますおいしい焼酎。ごひいきのお店でさらにおいしい焼酎を探してみては？　日本酒を比べて決して安酒ではありません。まだまだ開拓の余地ありですよ。

現在の異常ともいえる焼酎ブームの前から、東京で乙類焼酎を広めてきた、知る人ぞ知る酒販店の店主が書いた本である。芋、米、麦など、原料別の銘柄紹介、蔵元へのアンケートなど。内容が専門的なため、ある程度焼酎に慣れ親しんだ人が楽しめる内容となっているが、飲み方、製造工程なども簡潔にまとめられており、初心者のガイド本としても使える。
眼目は何といっても著者による銘柄紹介だろう。「佐藤」「旭萬年」など、著者の扱い商品を中心とする銘柄紹介は、凡百の焼酎本のような単なる味の紹介にとどまらず、ビジネス面なども、掘り下げて書いてある。
例えば、さる銘柄の芋焼酎古酒のくだりでは零細企業が多い焼酎蔵では保存していく体力がなかった事、大手へ「桶売り」する麦焼酎を売って鹿児島や宮崎の零細芋焼酎蔵は生きながらえてきた事など、焼酎バーでロマンたっぷりに飲む都会の焼酎ファンに冷厳な事実も突きつける。

もちろん、このような堅苦しい話だけではなく、思い入れたっぷりに銘柄の味も伝えている。「焼き芋を飲む込むときのように繊維質を感じるような喉ごしなのですが、引っかかる感じがまるでありません。甘く濃い感じがするのに（中略）スコン、スコンと切れていく感じがする・・・」など抽象的な言葉ではなく自分の言葉で味を伝えており、生唾が沸く。
宮崎の２０度焼酎のエピソードなど、焼酎豆知識も挿入されていて楽しい。著者が言う「共に歩んでくれた蔵元たち」との深い信頼関係を感じる一冊である。
惜しむらくは、壱岐焼酎の扱いが弱いことか・・・。

あと本書では、貴重な「正調粕取り焼酎」の工程（図解）と銘柄紹介をしているが、これは資料としても価値が高い。

元来焼酎好きな私が一も二もなく手に取った本です。私は芋焼酎専門なので、本書の芋焼酎のほとんどと初溜取りのものはなじみになっていますが、米焼酎、麦焼酎などはほとんど飲まないため、大変参考になりました。
本書は文庫本というコンパクトなサイズであるので、旅行や出張の折にはポケットに入れて、地方の居酒屋などで、本書で紹介されているものを注文できるのでありがたい存在です。
個人的な注文を言うならば、芋焼酎100選のような文庫本が著者の手でできないものかということです。いも麹芋や、川越を紹介しているあたり、信頼に値する書籍だと感じました。
